You'll never get the liveCD to run on that system. Download and burn the
Alternate CD instead.

Near the bottom you'll see a checkbox for "Check here if you need the
alternate desktop CD. This CD does not include the Live CD, instead it
uses a text-based installer." check that and you will get the Alternate CD.

[Installing Ubuntu via the alternate CD - choose your architecture from
i386] but it appears that the link is temporarily not working. So try
