Hello users,

I am a brand new Linux user from the Unix world where I can find my way around with some effort.

I have an HP Pavilion 794n running XP. I would like to install Ubantu 8.04 on an new Seagate FreeAgent 500 Gig USB drive. The whole drive can be dedicated to Linux.

I downloaded the Ubantu image, put it on a CD and It wants to install on my C drive.

I played around with GParted and see how to partition my drive but I don't know what to do with primary, extended etc partitions etc. I could read all the stuff on Ubantu and get the job done eventually but I would rather have have use of the system during my lifetime.

I need some expert guideance on how to proceed.

Thanks,
Martin Buchholtz
