If you have a spare machine (or something with spare cycles to run 
vmware) a really simple solution is to install SME server 
(http://www.contribs.org) just to have an out-of-the box IMAP mailbox 
drop plus webmail for the times you don't have a client.  The system 
provides other services too (internet gateway, vpn, file/web/ftp 
servers) but even if you don't need those it is handy for email.
