Ranting on a discussion forum won't get it fixed though!! Are you sure 
this is a Ubuntu issue?  What does the application say about Gnome menus 
- is it expecting them to be there? Do other distros have this same 
problem?

Once you are sure where the problem is log a bug.

Do a bit of digging and you might be able to help getting this fixed.
