In FF 3.0 the bookmarks are in
home/holtzm/.mozilla/firefox/dkxpf3a1.default/bookmarks.html
why can't this be imported?

Actually I have been leaning toward copying the bookmarks file to
another directory and wiping FF 3.0 completely before installing FF 2.0.

the FF forum that he was addressing the "wonderbahr" complaints, so I may
give him a chance to produce.
