strange root home directory

Hi all,
I saw this strange thing: in my /etc/passwd file I've got the home for root 
set as /root, but when I do a ldapsearch I see:

gidNumber: 0
uid: root
uidNumber: 0
homeDirectory: /home/root

What can be about?
