replace RealPlayer

Is there a replacement that will play ABC radio streams, eg
http://abc.net.au/adelaide/onair/891stream.ram
http://abc.net.au/streaming/newsradio.ram

Realplayer 10 Gold is the last of the free Linux offers and it is 
not reliable in 64 bit Ubuntu Gutsy and will not run at all in 32 
bit Gutsy.

VLC works wonderfully on http://mbs-sa.org:8000/listen.pls but 
cannot handle those ram files.  So far I haven't found anything 
that can.

Advice would be welcome.
