Gparted resize linux swap partition

Check yout /etc/fstab and see if it is mounting the correct swap partition.
As Brian points out,  the entries in the  /etc/fstab uses UUID.
Check your swap partitions UUID with :
$ ls  -l /dev/disk/by-uuid/

I'm thinking the UUID has changed.
