    Ok Jim, when you get back and verify you have a nVidia video card, 
then while your still on your computer do this: cd /boot/grub
and when there using the editor you like delete the words past the word 
quiet. If you have no editor you like then get mine with:
sudo apt-get install joe
and when done you use joe like this: joe menu.lst and if you are weak on 
Word Star just remember it all starts with Ctrl-k :-)
