I was actually just playing around with Likewise the other night.
You should see a bunch of scripts in /etc that have 'lwidentity' in
their name.
Here's what I had on my system:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 267 2008-03-21 16:39 hosts.lwidentity.bak
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 269 2008-03-21 16:31 hosts.lwidentity.orig
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4.2K 2008-03-21 16:39 krb5.conf.lwidentity.bak
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3.3K 2008-03-21 16:22 krb5.conf.lwidentity.orig
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 502 2008-03-21 16:43 nsswitch.conf.lwidentity.bak
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 499 2008-03-21 16:31 nsswitch.conf.lwidentity.orig
Restore the .orig files. (mv /etc/hosts.lwidentity.orig /etc/hosts)
Once you've done that, you need to restore PAM (Pluggable Authentication
Modules and Linux's 'login' system).
Go to /etc/pam.d/
There you'll find another bunch of lwidentity files. Restore them (mv
/etc/pam.d/common-account.lwidentity.orig /etc/pam.d/common-account)
If you need help with the commands to move all those files, let me know.
That should restore PAM and your basic system config.
The last step is optional, and I don't know if it will work on the
ubuntu-supplied packages of likewise. The packages from the likewise
site install to /opt/likewise-open. If you rm -rf /opt/likewise-open
you should have it completely out of your system. (You said you already
rm'd /etc/init.d/likewise-open and the /etc/rc files.)
Let me know if you have trouble.
