Undo 7.10 upgrade to 8.04 ?

I have backups on a second hard drive and an external hard drive.  (belt 
and suspenders).
The problem is, I made a bad decision' during the upgrade. (at 2 AM) 
because I didn't realize
how long the upgrade would take.   I confess that the backup wasn't up 
to date.
