New Install vs. upgrade menu problems

Hmmm, my /home/cybe/.local/share/desktop-directories has one directory,
menu-xdg.  That directory has no dot files although it does contain
entries which are revealed to be desktop configuration files.  I left
them alone.

Again, no dot files.  No action.

Before doing so I first renamed the
directory, /home/cybe/.local/share/applications to .../.applications
and all extraneous menu entries went away.  I did, however, follow your
advice about removing the above-referenced files.

Alacarte has always failed when trying to remove old wine menu items.
I don't know why.  
Anyway, my problem is now solved, thank you, sktsee!

Now if only GKrellKam would display my radar maps...
