Root partition full, although baboab says different

Hello,

I am not running out of space yet, but I cannot figure out where 2GB or so
of data are hiding.

Here's the df -h output:
michele at EvoN610c:~$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 6.5G 5.7G 405M 94% /
varrun 506M 120K 506M 1% /var/run
varlock 506M 0 506M 0% /var/lock
udev 506M 88K 506M 1% /dev
devshm 506M 0 506M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda4 373M 67M 287M 19% /boot
/dev/sda2 18G 8.5G 8.1G 52% /home

As you can see I am using 5.7G out of the 6.5G root partition.

The interesting thing is that if I start baobab I obtain the following
results:
/usr 2.6GB
/var 480MB
/opt 420MB
/lib 88MB
/etc 14MB
All the other directories are below 10MB
In total it is less than 3.7 GB, not 5.7G as reported.

Any idea how I can find out how the missing space is used?

Note: ran apt-get clean, deleted the root trash, cannot see any file in /
itself

Thanks in advance,

Michele
