    Of course there is. I have a root password on this Ubuntu and I 
seldom use it. I'm convinced you can be a command-line person as I am, 
and live with sudo. What you don't know because you didn't read all of 
man sudo, is that the first sudo requires your password. All others for 
around 15 minutes from the last one do NOT require a new passord.

    Now if you still want a root password you can have one. There are 
several ways to do it. Look at System Administration Users and Groups.
