copy files and preserve attributes

Hardy/Ubuntu/32 bit/Gnome/Nautilus

Is there a setting to retain attributes when
copying files in Nautilus?

e.g.
1. create a folder "ztmp"
2. copy an existing folder and paste it into ztmp
result:
the newly pasted ztmp files have the current date
and time attribute rather then the original

Perhaps this is how it worked in 7.10 (I passed on
that version) - however the attributes are preserved
in 7.04. Yes I know about cp -p but need to know
about Nautilus.

tnx
