Thanks Paul...I actually managed to get it working the normal way, 
except that I have to put in the WPA password everytime I boot up. 
But it will accept fixed IPs.
8.04 is pretty good but it still has a few hickups 
(e.g update manager will hang from time to time, 
but I do updates with apt which is quicker)
