another interesting video problem VLC won't play dvd- resolved.

I am using 8.04 ubuntu.  Chris had me install fglrx, I am rather certain.

I do not have 'Applications--Other."  What, this is supposed to be there?
Perhaps the ubuntu gods are angry with me.

Is there a way to get 'Other?'  I could use more GUI controls.  Lousy typist
and how do you organize so many options and things?
