Assuming you have activated the Medibuntu repository, a 64-bit
installation will not see w32codecs (but instead w64codecs).

Many people have discovered that "reverting" to ALSA simplifies the
audio puzzle greatly. Kubuntu does not ship with PulseAudio bits, for
example.
