Following the link on the mondo site leads to a URL of the form
ftp://ftp.xxxxxxxx
which is one of the things I tried. Also deb ftp://ftp.xxxxxxx,
deb http://ftp.xxxxxx
I'm undoubtedly missing some basic that you're telling me. What I don't
understand is why plugging in the URL verbatim isn't working. One other
site that I have in the sources.list file is
http://www.foory.de/thw/slrn/hardy (note the difference in form) and it
works perfectly.

Already did that but I wanted the mondo site in my
/etc/apt/sources.list.save file for future updates.
Thanks for the reply.

A fair fight is the result of poor planning.
