Can you ping an outside host by domain? I.E.,

ping google.com

Are you pinging from a 192.168.0.xxx? machine? If not, then check your
gateway:

cat /etc/resolv.conf

Make sure that the gateway IP is in the file (192.168.0.1 or such). If
not, add it in and then test:

gksu gedit /etc/resolv.conf

You may be running into the 'fixed IP' problem that I was having &
