Yes.  I feared the discussion would go the way it did now: A whole bunch
of unrelated material from the GNU FAQ was now cited, about aggregation and
other divergent topics.

The point in the hidpoint case is: they link proprietary code against a
GPLed library.  The following template from the GPL FAQ matches their
attitude:

| Linking [name of your program] statically or dynamically with other
| modules is making a combined work based on [name of your
| program]. Thus, the terms and conditions of the GNU General Public
| License cover the whole combination.

This paragraph should suffice, no need to cite tons of other unrelated
material.  After all, I don't see it's necessary to discuss that linking
thing for the umpteenth time: the result won't differ from the previous
times.  I'm a programmer and somewhat tired about that ever-re-occuring
legalese.

You may want to ask on some GNU list or newsgroup for more information.
I'd prefer to end the discussion here, at least from my side.
