Disappearing Sound

I just noticed I have zero sound again. When I opened Sound Preferences,
or tried to, I had a blank dialog.

I think this finally comes down to a very very bad install. Im just
having way to many troubles. I'll begin backing up my stuff this week
and trying with a fresh install.
