ubuntu hangs up

    OK guys, we have what sounds like 3 kinds of Ubuntu hang up. So we 
better get a handle on what the hang up is really like. Here are some 
questions about what your hang up does:

    1. What do you see on your screen:

I see a cross hatch multi color screen.

    2. What does your keyboard do?

My keyboard appears dead. A Ctrl-Alt-F1 does nothing.

    3. What does your mouse do?

My mouse appears to not work at all.

    4. How do you fix the hang up?

I turn off my computer and then back up.
