Hi Mark,
 
I added the  Alias events/ /extra/events

It does not work. In the error log it is looking under /extra/www/events
 
/extra/www is my document root. I am not sure why it is prefixing the document root.

Look at the ALIAS command in apache.

ALIAS events/ /extra/events
...

There are tons of options, so read the docs carefully
