aptitude install intel

xserver-xorg-video-intel:

Package xserver-xorg-video-intel has no available version, but exists in
the database.
This typically means that the package was mentioned in a dependency and
never uploaded, has been obsoleted or is not available with the contents
of sources.list

My Debian Sid uses the Intel driver and it has no problems with 1680x1050.

I dunno what's going on with Hardy. Maybe I'll try the Sid driver but
that's unlikely to work.
