Your machine doesn't know the device. If you want to find out if it can 
work with Linux, use the command

lsusb

to find the product ID (something like 05e3:1205). Use that ID for a 
google search - maybe someone has already made it work. As an alternative 
you could search for the product name together with the word linux but 
that will get you far more useless results.
