Simple photo-editing 8.10?

In 6.06 there was a simple photo-editor.
It did 'cropping' 'file-size-reduction' 'make lighter/darker' 'change
light/dark balance' 'color-correction?'
..... just what I need when in a hurry.
 (.... and to reduce my 1 MB picture-s for someone with a slow
Internet-connection).

How/where do I get this capability in 8.10-64 ?
I am 3 years on Linux. I do common stuff incl minimal cmd-line.
It is not in Synaptic.
