All that you quoted is true, Karl. The response from the "message format
10 year old anal retentives" was not worth their cost to transport as
bits across the Internet.

The first message response he received was abusive. It continued to be
uninformative and abusive for several messages. At Thorny's message I'd
had enough and lit into Thorny. He and his cronies can grow up. Note
that when people started to get helpful I did not comment. But, I figure
by then the original poster had had enough and bailed out of Ubuntu
altogether.

BSD folks have a "reputation" for being curt and unfriendly. I always
found them courteous, friendly, and helpful WAY beyond the Fedora people.
And now I find after some months of random monitoring Ubuntu that you
folks here seem to have forgotten courtesy completely. You do not win
over people from other OSs or distros by reading them the riot act,
incorrectly at that, when they post a query. If you cannot help do not
answer. If you can help deliver the help and if you feel so strongly
about bottom posting gently ask. And make sure your OTHER criticisms
accurate. Politeness really helps. But some people seem to only respond
to a dead fish across the face. So I delivered that dead fish.

(Warning - I cured SOME people on the RedHat/Fedora lists by side posting
to be obnoxious. {^_-})
