I too am a total noob but I've been using linux 4 abt 3 months 4now and I've also been looking for some guides but so far https://help.ubuntu.com has helped me a bit and also a certain EBook called ubuntu pocket guide has helped too ... You might wanna look at http://www.ubuntuforums.org and post there also coz they have also helped me
