FVWM2 on ubuntu or xubuntu, will it make any difference, either better?

I want to use fvwm2 as my window manager (I did before for a while and
the advantages are beginning to outweigh the disadvantages again).

Will I see any differences if I install it on an xubuntu system
compered with installing it on an ubuntu system?  Or will its
dependencies end up producing almost the same system in both cases?

Any experience or comments would be most welcome.
