games?

I have not been able to run any off the games I have installed on the
software center. I am running Ubuntu 9.10. I may need to reinstall the
graphics card I really don't know computers well. My pc is a hp Pavilion
Slimline s3020n PC. graphics powered  nvidia. The screen just slowly turns
white when I try to run a game and I have to turn it off when that happens
to get it to work again.
