Ubuntu 9.10 locking up regularly after upgrade (Was Re: I am using Ubuntu 9.10 version - facing problem with my system)

I helped repair one of these a couple of weeks ago.  The CPU fan wasn't
doing its job. We cleaned the unit (dust bunnies looked like dust apes)
and replaced the CPU fan and it hasn't happened again.
