BTW, I had this happen to me earlier after installing xmms2-* and
rebooting.  I actually rebooted as part of trying to get my camera
card recognised as per my other email.

So I went out to text mode, logged in, removed a bunch of nvidia.ko
files, re-ran my nvidia installer which I fortunately still had on
hand, and came back up fine.

Of course, still no sign of my 2nd monitor :-(
