This was the second thing I did after booting my pre-installed Dell 1525n and
then I believe I have booted in to Gnome exactly one time since just to show
a colleague it was there.

I do use synaptic in KDE as it is an excellent package manager and easy to
use.

I usually find someone knowledgeable enough to tell me how to accomplish it in
KDE. I have always found Gnome just way to clunky, ...too Maclike to be
useful for anything I do.

Yes, but I do find Xfce fun also. I still have not done much with KDE4
because of the original missing parts but hear it is getting better and maybe
even to the point of replacing 3.5. I'll see with 10.04
