1. What is the "dual core" processor you are using? For example, Intel 
Core Duo is 32 bit *only* processor, cannot do 64 bit obviously.
2. Have you checked the integrity of the ISO images you are downloading? 
Are the MD5SUM and/or SHA1SUM correct?
