$ sudo apt-get install dosemu

$ sudo dosemu

cd to your maxterm and run it - I just did and it works.

Note: you must use sudo w/dosemu otherwise you'll end up with:
~$ dosemu
LOWRAM mmap: Invalid argument
Segmentation fault
