Can't get resolution higher than 640x480 after playing Frets on Fire

Works here using an nVidia NV25GL [Quadro4 900 XGL] and Ubuntu 8.04.1.
It would be helpful if you tell us what version of Ubuntu you are using.

If you are using 8.10, reboot, select the Recovery kernel & then use
xfix (4th option I think) to reset the video & then select the first
option to continue normally.
