Can't see USB on VirtualBox [Former: USB Re: TomTom on Ubuntu]

If you have, under the Devices pulldown menu, a list of your USB 
devices, then you're using PUEL.  It *may* be under Help/About, but I'm 
not in front of it to test atm so can't be certain.

Also...even with PUEL, you'll need to explicitly select which USB 
devices you want avail to the Virt.  Example:

Boot Ubuntu, insert USB device.  Device mounts, icon on desktop

Start your VM, select the USB device to make avail to the Virt.

What happens at that point is the USB device is UNMOUNTED from the Linux 
'side' of things and is made avail to the Virt only.  Close the Virt (or 
deselect the USB Device) and it should again auto mount in Ubuntu.
