Ummm... AT&T, or any other ISP that discontinues usenet/nntp access has
*nothing* to do with the status of nntp and/or usenet. I seriously doubt
that gmane.org (which carries *many* lists via nntp) are about to fold
anytime soon. Nor do I think that the IETF and other Network Working
Group's are going to drop the nntp protocol in the dev/null bin anytime
soon.

I couldn't imagine using this list (and many others that I use on a
daily basis) via standard email. Instead I use the gmane.org nntp list
server and can easily switch between multiple lists at will. Perhaps you
ought to give it a try...

Regarding AT&T discontinuing usenet access... IMO it's a good thing;
sort of like the past days of getting rid of AOL'ers & when before
deja.com was sucked up by google.

But I digress... this conversation should be over on the sounders list
(oops forgot that nntp is dead... I'll try to find something appropriate
on the Ubuntu forums instead).
