Best to install 9.04 along side it on a spare partition that has
enough space to hold the install. If you have a home directory that's
on another partition, you can share it with 8.04.
gparted is one way to remove 8.04, especially if you want to recover
the disk space and give it to one of your other partitions. Or, you
can simply format it and use it as a spare blank partition for
something else, depending on your needs.
