Jaunty not starting

While googling I found some users with video problems getting stuck at
the same point in the boot sequence. So I started fiddling with
apt-get and it requested that I run dpkg --configure -a and sure
enough, after doing that I was able to reboot into a working system.

The last shutdown was in fact after an update, including KDE 4.3 RC2
which is known to kill X during the update. I wonder if the issues are
related. Should I file a bug on this?
