	I would try to make it two problems. The first the 40 GB IDE drive I
would take out of the computer. Now you have just one SATA drive with
160 GB of space now taken up with Windows.

	Do you have a LiveCD of the Ubuntu you want to use? Assummimg yes I
would first get the Windows to boot up. When this works good please use
the windows defragging tool to get the windows as small as possible.

	Then from the LiveCD use the Partition Manager to partition the 160 GB
windows to a 6 GB windows and a 154 GB empty partition. When done check
that windows still works. Then again with partition manager MOVE the 156
GB empty partition to the end of the hard drive. Then make an extended
partition with 156 GB open to use.

	Make a 3 GB partition and make it a swap partition. Make a 7 GB
partition and call it a linux partition. Load your linux here and you
should be able to select Ubuntu or windows now.

	When this works let us know.
