64Bit installation on a 500 GB Sata DRIVE

We've been doing an installation on this LTSP Server we are trying to 
build. Somehow in while formatting the 500 GB HD the partitioning 
process is stock in 33%. Can anyone suggest if there are limitations or 
problems?

Anyway just for additional information:
We are using 64bit alternate ubuntu disc(we tried 8.04 to 9.04. Also 32 
bit installation suceeded). We want to use 64bit since the machine has 
5GB of memory.
Processor is Intel QUAD Q9550.
