Human language translation software

For several years I have been using Babylon translation software in
Windows. It has its limitations, but it has been an invaluable tool for
my multilingual activities in the office and on the net.

I have tried several Linux programs in U9.04, but none comes even close
to the kind of one click translation I have become used to in Windows. I
am prepared to admit that my use of these programs may have been
incorrect, or perhaps they were installed incorrectly.

I would really appreciate it if someone who has had experience with
using multiple languages, and needs an occasional reminder about the
meaning of a certain word could suggest a Linux application I could set
up in Ubuntu.

The languages I use most frequently are English, Hebrew, French and
German. Since, for some reason, the Gnome keyboard indicator limits me
to four, that is the list of primary need. If someone knows how to add
more keyboards to the indicator, one can throw in Arabic and Chinese
(Mainland and/or old style). I know Chinese input is more difficult than
in Windows.

Thanks in advance,

Avraham
