unexpected restart of computer

I have a similar problem, but in my case it's my wireless keyboard and
mouse. When the receiver is too far away it lose its connection and
sometimes when it tries to reconnect, Ubuntu dies. If I unplug the
receiver from the USB port and then plug it in again, it sometimes
work and sometimes Ubuntu crash. I get logged out and have to log in
again. It looks like when I hit Ctrl+Alt+Backspace.
I have had all those problems since Ubuntu 8.10 and I blame Evdev.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.
But perhaps your machine crashes for another reason.
