Servers sluggish...

Sometimes the single http/ftp connection you set up with the server gets
"queued" or something from your own isp or something like that. i dont know
the technicalities, but its better to have a couple ~2 to 4 connections to
the server for downloading large files.

If youre using firefox you might want to use the download manager
Addon/plugin called "Downthemall" (yes its one word) or you might want to
use a download manager like Download Accelerator Plus that integrates into
IE, Firefox and others!

Otherwise, try something else entirely: torrents!! there are a couple
official torrents on which you can download the different versions of
ubuntu.

Get the torrent you need, run it in "Utorrent" or "Vuze" and start
downloading!! its fast!! last time i checked there were a couple hundred
people "seeding" and just a handful of "peers" (people still downloading the
file). so you should get decent speeds, mostly limited by your dialup.
