If you just want to start over, then simply reinstall Ubuntu.  When the
installer gets to the disk partitioner choose manual instead of guided.
 Then just pick the partition that has Ubuntu and choose edit, set the
filesystem to ext3, the mount point to /, and click on the box to
format.  Then when you finish answering the installer questions, it will
format the partition before installing files.
