I find myself in agreement with Karl - I use joe _often_, except on minimal 
systems where I have to use nano (nano is actually more wordstarish, iirc - 
but it's a loong time since I used wordstar).

Isn't kwrite just implemented as a kate-part these days?

Once upon a time, I considered myself an Emacs guru (haven't used it since 
1994).  I just don't find it necessary anymore.
