Which kernel version and intel driver do you have? Here I have
linux-image-2.6.28-12-generic 2.6.28-12.43 and xserver-xorg-video-intel
2:2.7.1-0ubuntu1~xup~1.
I assume you use Compiz, and that your card is a GM965?

I notice it by seeing that the kernel's cache grows to over 1.5 GB (the
'cached' column that /usr/bin/free displays), and that you cannot reduce
it to under 1 GB even by doing
echo 3 |sudo tee /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
Eventually (this takes about 2 days) the page cache claims all memory
(I've got 2 gigs), forcing my applications out to swap (unless X crashes
first, in which case cache size drops).
