Laŭ Amedee Van Gasse (ubuntu):
# According to the Belgian Telecommunications Act (which is just an
# implementation of European law, so it should be similar across the whole
# European Union) it is illegal for service providers to tamper with the
# communications they handle (like email, phone, fax,...) without the
# explicit prior consent of the user, except when it is needed for the
# functioning of the service.
# Adding headers is not considered tampering because they are not part of
# the actual message itself. They are part of the functioning of the service.
Sounds like we need such a law here in the states. Funny thing is that I thought
we had a law like that, but it either doesn't cover "Sent from my T-Mobile
Blackberry" or it just doesn't work at all because it seems the companies
themselves write our laws.
Live long and prosper,
Lorenzo
